black day

Half a dozen lifeguards are chatting under the shelter of the eaves.
In the goose-pimpled water, there is one swimmer.
A pitch-dark cloud has spread over the pool from behind the thick green of the trees, from the direction of Omiya shrine.
The first syllables in September and the sixth, make kuro, black in Japanese.
A large crow with a proud posture walks up and down.
He is inspecting the pool.
A few more days and he’ll be the boss till next July.
